Philadelphia's newly elected district attorney, Donna Modigliani, must identify a threat to a real-life event in the city hosted by Pope Francis. But when her efforts seem thwarted by a mysterious Washington official, she turns to freelance agent Tristan Boumann, a modern-day Benjamin Franklin, because Donna knows all about Tristan and his uncanny talent for identifying conspiracies that cops and feds are prone to miss.
